Module Evaluation

When focusing on recreating mythical creatures throughout the module, some of the outcomes were stronger than others. I found it hard to accurately illustrate some of the larger creatures like the Golem and Hydra, whilst the outcomes focused on bipedal creature had a better end result in process as well as aesthetic. The outcomes I am least satisfied with are the Golem and Eastern Dragon. While I did understand the core elements of the mythical creatures to be able to illustrate them, the end result was rather clunky or the colour compositions just did not work. The east dragon outcome is rather over-saturated and the Golem is in front of a background that is also perhaps over-saturated. Banshees: Origins and End of Module Final Piece

Banshees Banshees are mythical creatures that originate from Irish folklore and are said to appear having long hair, in a grey dress. They are believed to be an indicator of someone's impending doom.   The banshee from the Irish mythology is more tame than those found in popular media. While the myth does explain that banshees are an omen of death, video games and media use these creatures as hostile entities that attack mortals when they get too close. Dark Souls & Dead By Daylight Dark Souls Banshees often are enemy entities that hunt players in games. The appear as ghouls in Dark Souls and float above the ground and appear white and grey rags. Dead By Daylight, The Spirit Dead By Daylight interprets the banshee as a zombie-like character who is possessed with her body parts floating in place. Hydra Final Process

Hydras are essentially a mutant form of dragon which appear in bodies of water, most notably based on the mythical Greek legend of Lernaean Hydra. The main difference of the hydra is the presence of multiple heads instead of only one head. Most other features stay relatively the same, but perhaps due to the nature of the hydra originating from a lake makes the creature appear more like a sea monster than an airborne creature. The Hydra of Lernaea is a Greek tale which told the story of a nine-headed water serpent which haunted the lake of Lernaea. Heracles was sent to slay this creature, however, with every head that was cut two more grew in its place. With the help of Iolaus, he slayed the beast by cauterising the hydra's wounds to prevent its regeneration. Eastern Dragon: Final Process

Sketch Lineart Block Colours Shaders and background colours Multiplication layers, volume enhancing I am less impressed with this outcome as I am with the westernised dragon. I may be due to the choice of a blue background that is too saturated to repesent the sky. The details of the dragon itself are fine, but doesn't work well with the background as intended. A improvement could be the de-saturation and lightening of the blues and using a more subtle feathering effect for the background.

With a creature that appears so large relative to humans, it was difficult correctly visualise each body part of the dragon when drawing from a dynamic perspective. Despite the dragon's left arm being non-existent (in hindsight, this could have made his stance more convincing), the added volumetric details, the lighting and shading makes the appearance of the dragon convincing in my opinion.

Dragons are fictional and mythological creatures that appear in narratives and video games such as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Game of Thrones. They are iconic creatures in the fantasy genre and appear very frequently as creatures capable of flight and breathing fire. The general build of the dragon is composed from many different animals in the real world including lizards, crocodiles and bats, from which they borrow physical features that make up the types of dragons we know today. There are currently two commonly distinguished types of dragons: Western and Eastern dragons, which are defined culture but bear similar physical traits.
